Botanical bath? Sign us up!

As gardeners who are fond of the occasional soak in the tub, when we read the words ‘botanical’ alongside ‘bath’, we can’t help it, we’re going to be curious. And when Mama Bear Yoga’s Aphrodite Botanical Bath Tea popped up on our Instagram feed, we decided we had to learn more.

Located in Cochrane, Alberta, Mama Bear Yoga is owned by Brittany Carson, a yogi who’s also an herbalist and soon-to-be Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (in other words, she’s a busy woman). Mama Bear Yoga is focused primarily on nourishing mothers and mothers-to-be with yoga, meditation, yoga nidra and critical alignment yoga therapy.

The bath tea Brittany creates is a natural extension of her support of women. “As an herbalist I wanted to create a botanical bath tea inspired by femininity, nurturing and fertility,” Brittany says. Beautifully composed of lavender, rose, calendula and chamomile, plus sea and epsom salts, this therapeutic bath tea can “help soothe low back pain, discomfort during pregnancy and promote healing postpartum.” Mixed in small batches by Brittany, its certified organic ingredients are locally sourced, in nearby Calgary. Yup, organic — which means, after your bath, you can compost the herbs and give back to the earth — lovely.

Brittany says she’s “grateful to support women with natural wellness so they can conceive naturally, thrive during pregnancy, experience an empowering birth and feel nourished postpartum.” It’s safe to say, from her flourishing Instagram community and the appreciative words from clients on her website, that many women feel grateful in return.

Due to complete her Traditional Chinese Medicine training in March, Brittany is also pregnant herself, and looking forward to welcoming her little one to the world in April of this year. We suspect she’ll have an exceedingly well-earned bath or two in the meantime.
