Join us at Scarlett’s Farmers Market
Love to garden and all things produce? Throw a farmers market party and share the love of fresh produce!
We repurposed a lemonade stand we had made a few years ago. It’s made from two craft crates and some scrap wood for the post. We added some new scrap wood in the crates to make shelves. Then, we angled the wooden sign to hold up our awning. We found this red striped paper awning that was pre-made; it was the perfect touch to make the stand pop! Light blue spray paint transformed this lemonade stand into the perfect farmers market stand.
Stock the stand! Ikea has great felt fruits and vegetables toys that we used to stock the market stand. The children loved using their imaginations to shop for fresh produce. Don’t have Ikea close by? Don’t worry you can buy them on Amazon too!
What’s a birthday party without some sweet treats? Mini cupcakes are the way to go for a first birthday party, they pop in your mouth with little mess. Scarlett, our birthday girl had a custom Strawberry cupcake from a local bakery, Sweet Reasons Cupcakes. Decorating the cupcakes was a simple task using vegetable images, I printed them from my home computer onto cardstock then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut them out. We hot glued the card stock images to toothpicks to create one of a kind cupcake toppers. All the hard work was done and we just had to add the picks to the cupcakes without taste testing them.
We didn’t stop there, everyone was sent home with cookies as party favors! Jessie B’s Custom Cookies created the most adorable cookies for our guest to take home. We set out the rest of the cookies for the guest to enjoy throughout the party. Jessie B’s Custom Cookies nailed our farmers market theme, they looked adorable and are simply delicious!
You can’t forget the details, decorations! Since we couldn’t bring the actual farmers market home, we strung homemade banners all around the room to bring the market in. The gingham and vegetable print fabric brought the party to the next level. We scattered the room with fruits and vegetable balloons, which of course was found on Amazon. My kids loved tossing broccoli and carrot balloons into the air!
My statement piece was on the front porch, old wooden orange crates from an orange grove in Florida! We found them in an old barn that was part of an orange grove! Since it was a farmers market theme we had visited the local market before the party to support our local farmers and bought some colorful produce to fill our crates. We had a wonderful fest munching on farm fresh produce.
Along with custom cookies, we had mini shopping baskets for each child to put their cookies into. I tied a thank you card with some twine to each basket. I made the cards from part of the invitations to tie the theme together and used the Silhouette Cameo to cut each one out. They each got different fruit squishy. If you never played with a squishy there is something so fun about squeezing them, my children love playing with these and so did everyone else. The baby guest enjoyed new fruit teething toys in their baskets! They are perfect for little ones to grab and chew.
