What’s the best time of year to give someone flowers? Well, you could make a good case that any time of the year is a great time to give flowers (or to get flowers, for that matter).
But, when you think about it, November — in the Northern Hemisphere, at least — might be the absolute perfect time of year for the gift of flowers. The trees are shedding their fabulously coloured leaves, the days are getting colder and becoming oh-so-short, and the positive energy of December’s holiday season is just far enough away for its much-needed spiritual benefit to be a smidge out of reach.
So what can help in these dour days of November? Yep. Flowers. (And hey, we just want to mention that if you happen to be the person to whom you’d like to give flowers, no judgement — go for it, with our blessings and complete understanding.)
Need a few more reasons (other than that it’s the dark season) to give flowers? To empower with petals? Bloom with blossoms? No problem.
Connect with emotion
A photo may be worth a thousand words, but flowers speak with emotion. Flowers can represent love, joy, appreciation, affection, romance, apologies and even a simple “Hey there, I’ve been thinking of you”. And with a gorgeous arrangement you can share your feelings simply, elegantly and beautifully.
Make someone smile
“Oh darn, someone sent me flowers,” said no one, ever. It’s possible that flowers are the one guaranteed way to put a genuine smile on someone’s face. They can easily say “I’m thinking of you, I appreciate you, I hope you’re doing well”, and so much more. Flowers are a beautiful way to express kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity.
Boost energy — or create calm
Flowers can give energy — through their beauty, their scent and positive aspect. Colourful blooms enliven, white and neutral flowers provide peace and serenity, and deeper, richly hued flowers can speak volumes of love and attraction.
Bayview Blossoms by gardenstead
Do you have something you’d like to say with flowers? Or heck, do you just want to get through November with flowers? We’re going to give a big shameless shoutout now to our very own lovely flower shop — Bayview Blossoms, in Toronto’s Yonge-Lawrence Village neighbourhood.
Bayview Blossoms has been making people happy via fantastic floral arrangements since 1995 and is still (if you’ll pardon a pun) blissfully blooming. Beyond flowers, the shop is also full of lots of other lovely items to browse through — chocolates, greeting cards, home décor, and more — so we strongly recommend you pop in and check out what’s currently in stock. Plus, you’ll get to meet our friendly, professional and super talented staff, who can provide suggestions and guide you toward just the right way to say whatever it is you need to say — whether with flowers or a gift.
We hope you to see you soon. Oscar Wilde once said “A flower blossoms for its own joy”, and we love that, but we also think flowers blossom for all of us, too. And thank goodness for that.
